Ohio Jobs

I swear to idolatry, Ohio... if you don't vote for Kerry in November, I'm going to have to come down there and slap you around a bit!

Based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics...

  • Ohio lost 11,800 more jobs in August, bringing its total job loss to 237,400. In August, Ohio lost another 11,800 jobs, including 4,100 manufacturing jobs. Under George Bush, Ohio has lost a total of 237,400 jobs – that is more than one in four jobs lost in the United States.

  • At this rate, Ohio will not see its first new job until 2017. Ohio has created an average of 1,500 jobs per month this year. At this rate, it won’t create its first net new job until 2017.

  • Manufacturing jobs have fallen in 50 out of 51 states (and DC) under George Bush. Under George Bush, America has lost 2.7 million manufacturing jobs. Every single state – except one – has experienced losses of manufacturing jobs.

  • Unemployment rates have risen in 47 out of 51 states (and DC) under George Bush. Under George Bush, the national unemployment rate has increased from 4.1 percent in January 2001 to 5.4 percent in August 2004. 47 out of the 51 states (including DC) have seen their unemployment rates rise.
