1000

Is this the number (of American casualties in Iraq) at which the fence-sitting voters will recognize that the cost of the war has far exceeded its returns?

As of August 3, 2004 (from AntiWar.com):
Since war began: 920/685 (in combat)
Since May 1, 2003 ("Mission Accomplished"): 781/575
Since Capture of Saddam: 460/380
Since Handover: 65/54
Total Wounded: 5425
